Imagine living the true American dream and opening your very own cat café. These cafés are gaining popularity across the country for cat and pet lovers alike. One family in particular is working on getting their own cat café in Chillicothe, Ohio, but when they went to check on the building they’re renovating, they discovered a surprise they surely weren’t expecting. They decided to make the most of it and offer a helping hand where it was needed most.

TikToker Catsandcompanycatfe Cats and Company posted a video of them visiting their new building, but came face-to-face with cats, a homeless man, and his mother. Poor guy fashioned the building as a home for him and his mom. Rather than get the police involved, the owners wanted to help them instead. And that included the adorable cats, too.

The homeless man told the owners he was staying in their stairwell and didn’t cause any damage when he stayed there. He said he didn’t “tear” anything up and his “cats use the litter box.” He explained to them the local homeless shelter is full and wasn’t able to take him in. Cats and Company told the homeless man they would work on finding him stable housing.

They also took in his two cats, one of which is a baby and the other is seventeen years old! Once he has stable housing and his cats receive medical care, they’re going to be reunited. It’s the best possible scenario you could ever hope for, and they’re making it happen!

This man was so lucky to end up in the care of such generous, warm-hearted people who love both humans and cats. A situation that could have ended badly for this homeless man is hopefully giving him a new lease on life. The reception was overwhelmingly in support of what the couple was doing.

Many commenters shared the sentiment, “You should definitely hire the homeless man to work in your café when you open!” Another spun an entire tale they deemed worthy enough for a movie.

Another person shared, “It’s really rare to see people actually care and try to help. So many people are a thread from homelessness, your understanding and compassion I’m sure means a lot.” And thankfully, as one commenter pointed out, the man’s cats were “in great condition, despite his circumstances.”

Most importantly, someone asked if there was a funding project going on, hoping to donate. The cat café shared there is a GoFundMe in their TikTok’s bio. Now that’s awesome!
