There’s a running joke around the country that the USPS is not the best when it comes to handling mail. However, the Postal Service isn’t doing anything to prove people wrong. Recently, a citizen of North Carolina shared a video where the mail carrier ran over his mailbox and fled from the scene. In the past, we knew that mail carriers handled packages aggressively, but destroying property is a whole new thing, and one we hope doesn’t happen in other states of the country.
The victim shared their camera footage on the r/Mildlyinfurating subreddit, where you can see an alleged USPS van delivering mail at the OP’s house. However, this mail carrier from North Carolina starts backing up slowly to leave the location and, in doing so, runs over the mailbox.
Instead of getting out of the van to fix the mailbox or leave their information to pay for the damages, they decided to drive away, leaving the OP’s mailbox damaged and crooked.
The one who posted the footage also shared an image of the mailbox in the comments. While it wasn’t completely trash, the poor object is all crooked now and almost unusable. The shocking part is that the one who delivered the mail didn’t even have the education to do something about it. Fortunately, OP didn’t stand around with his arms crossed, as he shared in the comments that he has filed a report already, meaning that the one involved in the mailbox hit-and-run might face some dire consequences soon, or at least pay for the damage.
Since many think this is expected behaviour from the USPS, they decided to share some thoughts on the matter.

“You’ll probably get a notice from the post office that your mail receptacle needs attention, and they won’t deliver until it’s fixed. 🙄” said Particular_Tile42.
The ironic thing about the above comment is that it may well happen. Often, the Postal Service refuses to deliver your mail due to whatever reason it comes up with, and in this scenario, the USPS was the culprit, so the outcome is going to be interesting. We can only hope for the victim to get a new mailbox or at least some compensation because the driver was at fault here and needs to pay for all the mayhem they caused.
