We all know that this year is packed with new releases, but there might be a few surprises we have yet to hear about, and one of those might come from the Persona series. If you didn’t know, the JRPG franchise will reach its 30-years milstone this year, and the General Producer, Kazuhisa Wada, has released a video wishing all gamers a Happy New Year, but also talking about the current projects the studio is working on. For starters, we now have confirmation that Persona 4 Revival is still in the works and progressing steadily, but it also seems that we might get surprised soon, as Kazuhisa says we should “look forward to new announcements.”

If you missed the video, Kazuhisa Wada talks about the series’ 30th anniversary, which is this year. Besides thanking players for their support throughout these years, there are two notable things he mentions.

First, he talks about how Persona 4 Revival is progressing steadily. We all saw the teaser not long ago, and as one of the most beloved Persona titles out there, players can’t wait to get their hands on it. Furthermore, we already saw how great the Persona 3 remake was, so we can only imagine the one for the fourth installment will be just as great, if not better.

However, he also tells us to look forward to new announcements. Now, this could mean a lot of things, so it is important to keep our expectations and excitement in check.

As you know, there’s been talk about the highly anticipated Persona 6. If Kazuhisa is talking about new announcements for the 30th anniversary of the series, revealing the next main installment would make a lot of sense. Yet, it is all speculation, so let’s not interpret this as the Producer confirming a new game. Still, dreaming doesn’t hurt, does it?

The truth is that people are eager to dive into a new Persona experience already. While we still love to see the Phantom Thieves in new adventures and never get tired of revisiting previous entries, now under a modern spotlight, we are craving a new cast of characters. Knowing P-Studio, it is certain that we’ll get yet another excellent JRPG. It’s only a matter of figuring out when we’ll get it. This year makes a lot of sense, but if not, well, we can wait a bit longer.
