Tennessee Senator Brent Taylor is a well-known figure in the Senate for his support of the current administration. In September of 2025, Taylor made headlines during a hearing titled, “Blue City Chaos and Tragedy: How the Trump Administration is Addressing the Human Cost of Soft on Crime Policies.” During the hearing, the senator discussed his plan to end crime in Democrat-led cities in Tennessee. As Taylor now continues to support Trump’s legislative proposals, erratic behavior has given him yet another headline.
A video posted to the Memphis Reddit page shows Taylor mocking anti-ICE protestors from behind a window. Chants can be heard in the background saying, “Say it loud, say it clear, immigrants are welcome here.” As voices grow louder, Taylor walks up to the window, taking an ice cube out of his drink before saying something unintelligible and eating it.
In the background, protestors yell, “You are part of the problem!” As the senator walks away. Residents gathered outside the celebration to protest the first night of the new legislative session. The footage has sparked a digital riot on Reddit, with many users expressing their feelings toward the senator’s behavior.
“History will not remember these republicans fondly. Your family name will carry this disgrace for at least a generation. We will not forget,” one user says. Another, outraged, writes, “Even if your political stance does not align with someone else’s, approaching the opinions and disagreements of the other side by making fun of their views rather than discussing them and trying to be open to understand how to improve the community… It’s like we’ve got a bizarro version of Pee-Wee Herman screaming, ‘I know you are, but what am I?’ You’re supposed to be a professional, public servant in politics. But you’re out here mocking citizens, constituents, and basic humanity.”
As the comments became heated, some Reddit users even dug into Taylor’s background. “This guy must be a blast at parties,” one user says. “This and the fact that his career experience before becoming a senator was being a funeral director.
