You’d think leaf blowing would be a pretty low-stress job. But a recent incident in Florida, which was caught on camera by a bystander, shows how quickly things can spiral when tempers flare. Specifically, video shows a man angrily stomping on a worker’s leaf blower after leaves reportedly landed on his vehicle. The footage has since drawn widespread criticism over the man’s aggressive behavior.
The clip centers on a parking lot dispute in Delray Beach and shows a man wearing white shorts, a green T-shirt, and a white cap furiously stomping on a worker’s leaf blower as it lies on the ground. Clearly, the worker appears visibly confused, shaking his head as the man continues his aggressive outburst. Because the incident is being recorded from a distance, it’s difficult to make out what is being said. However, the person filming can be heard saying, “What the [expletive]’s this guy doing?”
Further describing the scene, the person recording clearly sides with the worker and states, “He’s just doing his job.” Another passerby witnessing the altercation says, “I know. He’s like went to push him or something. Like, what the [expletive]? And he didn’t know what to say because he was speaking like English or something.” The cameraman then states, “Alright, well, have them blow it off.” which seems to be the crux of the dispute, as leaves have reportedly landed on the angry Florida man’s car from the leaf-blowing activity.
Another person who has intervened attempts to defuse the situation, and you can hear the Florida man yell, “You want to pay for the car? $20. Gimme $20.” The cameraman then pipes up and shouts, “You’ve got a lot of nerve, bro! You know that?” before speaking to another bystander and describing what happened to them. “He said he blew stuff on his car. He said he got stuff on his car.” though he then yells at the Florida man, saying, “You took the $20? You’re a [expletive]!”
As the clip made the rounds on social media, viewers were quick to weigh in with their opinions. On Reddit, one user joked, “I wish another country would want to “buy” Florida” while another added, “Ugh. You can tell they are Northerner’s …. the obnoxious kind. I’m glad people were speaking up for the employee.” One commenter believed that the incident may’ve been racially motivated, writing, “The racist boomers are being activated.” while a fourth chimed in with, “Proud of the public all talking [expletive] to him“.
The outcome of the dispute remains unclear, though no injuries were reported and law enforcement was not involved, according to available information.
