There is a lot of tension and unease throughout the entire country, from ICE, Trump, and Greeland, and Texas always has something contentious taking place. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is personally leading the state’s effort to put the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms, despite a group of families doing everything they can to abolish the law and prevent religion from being established in the classroom.

Texas to defend law requiring schools to post Ten Commandments. Here’s what to know.

In a Reddit post shared to the Texas Politics Reddit thread, several folks were angry over Ken Paxton’s continued orders for Texas schools to display the Ten Commandments as per the law Governor Abbot passed last year. Paxton has argued that the commandments aren’t just religious text, but a core part of America’s legal and moral foundation that should be reflected in schools. Ken Paxton shared this on the Attorney General’s site in a recent statement urging districts to comply with state law once Senate Bill 10 takes effect.

“From the beginning, the Ten Commandments have been irrevocably intertwined with America’s legal, moral, and historical heritage, the woke radicals seeking to erase our nation’s history will be defeated. I will not back down from defending the virtues and values that built this country.

Paxton is also defending the law in federal court after a judge temporarily blocked it in some districts, saying the commandments could infringe on religious freedom. Paxton has appealed that decision, telling supporters he’s ready to fight in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Many folks in the Reddit had some unkind things to say about Ken’s iniative.

“I would much rather my tax dollars fund Planned Parenthood than this BS.”

“Ken Paxton, who famously cheated on his wife, is demanding that schools post up that God says you shouldn’t cheat on your spouse.”

“Growing up, the Paxton household only had the 1631 version of the Bible by Robert Barker and Martin Lucas.”

“I don’t understand Christianities obsession with the 10 commandments. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandments were, he didn’t list any of the 10.”

As you can see, there is no end in sight to the fight for the classroom, and Ken Paxton is determined to have his way in court.
