We can all agree that Forza Horizon 5 became one of the best and biggest racing experiences of the past few years. With that in mind, it’s always a challenge to see how the next installment would top it all, but it seems Playground Games has cracked the code because Forza Horizon 6 is bigger, bolder, better, and more beautiful than ever, and it also has an official release date. But that’s not all, because it seems that, since this new racing adventure is taking us to Japan, the studio is already planning the game’s first collaboration, and if our eyes don’t deceive us, it seems it will be with Gundam.

Forza Horizon 6 Will Launch on May 18, 2026

If you missed today’s Developer Direct, Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games gave us a rundown of the many things coming to Forza Horizon 6, as well as finally confirming its release date for May 18, 2026.

In terms of new features, Forza Horizon 6 will take place in Japan, bringing us to several iconic and gorgeous locations, including Tokyo and rural towns on the island’s outskirts. It also seems that we’ll start as tourists, and slowly make our way to the Horizon Festival by participating in the qualifiers and obtaining passes to other events.

Naturally, the game is keeping the iconic open-world racing exploration, making it even more seamless now, especially when playing with friends. And since cars are one of the main attractions of Forza Horizon 6, players can expect 550 vehicles at launch, with more likely coming after the game’s release.

Besides the in-depth building mechanics, customization options, and realistic driving systems, there is another thing that caught the attention of many, even if it was a kind of “blink, and you’ll miss it” moment at the end. It seems that Forza Horizon 6 is setting its sights on a collaboration already, and it looks like it will be with none other than Gundam, which will be quite fitting due to the game’s setting.

If history has taught us anything is that Playground Games always nails these events, such as the one we saw with Hot Wheels. However, adding Gundam to the mix sounds way more intriguing, and if we’re right on the collaboration being with Gundam, it’ll be interesting to see how the studio adapts it.

In any case, fans of the series are extremely excited to jump into a new Forza Horizon adventure, and one that seems to be the biggest and most ambitious one of the franchise. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long, as its release date is just a few months away.
