A man in Florida is accusing Farm House restaurant in Fort Lauderdale of kicking him out solely because he was wearing a MAGA hat. While staff reportedly told him he was asked to leave for “causing a scene,” the man believes that explanation does not reflect what actually happened. According to him, the incident occurred almost immediately after he walked into the restaurant with friends for what was supposed to be a casual night out. He claims that a waitress who noticed his red MAGA hat reacted by booing him as soon as he entered, something he found both surprising and inappropriate.
The man recorded portions of the encounter and later shared the video on TikTok. In the footage, he can be seen confronting staff and questioning why he was being treated differently because of what he was wearing. One male employee attempted to calm the situation and told him that the waitress had exercised her freedom of speech. But that explanation appeared to frustrate the customer even more.
“Freedom of speech, is it?” he said. “So I’m not welcome here just because of this MAGA hat?” Another staff member insisted that the issue was not about the hat, while a different employee could be heard in the background suggesting that he leave a review if he was unhappy with how the situation was being handled.

Despite those reassurances, the man remained convinced that his political apparel was the real reason he was being singled out. He later approached the waitress who had allegedly booed him in an attempt to address the issue directly. That interaction went nowhere, as the waitress refused to engage and walked away to continue serving other customers.
Still seeking clarity, the man asked to speak with a manager. During that conversation, he questioned how it was appropriate for a waitress to boo a customer simply for walking into the restaurant. The manager responded by saying that such behavior was not appropriate and that the restaurant did not agree with it.
Even so, the man was later asked to leave the restaurant.
In the comments section under his post, netizens were divided over whether the waitress failed to remain professional while on the job or whether the customer’s behavior justified his removal.
One person who sided with the Florida man argued, “Freedom of speech does not apply while you’re at work. During work you need to be neutral and professional.” Someone else said, “This restaurant needs to take responsibility & dismiss this waitress.” A third commented, “There’s no reason to boo over a hat. People need to grow up,” while a fourth added, “This is how restaurants go out of business.”
Others, however, defended the restaurant and its staff. One netizen pointed out, “It’s actually not the hat, it’s the person 🥰 hope this helps.” Another commented, “They have the right to refuse service to anyone. It’s a private establishment.”
