A woman in Kalamazoo, Michigan, recently shared footage from her home security camera that appeared to show a DoorDash driver leaving with her child’s pizza order after briefly dropping it off at her front door. The mother placed the order for her child and requested that it be left on the porch because she was not able to reach the door right away.
When the delivery driver arrived on the snowy night, she walked up to the woman’s porch and placed the pizza down as instructed. However, footage from the camera later showed the driver lingering near the porch for a short time after setting the order down.
It is difficult to tell exactly what the driver was doing during that moment because her face was blurred whenever she turned toward the camera. Shortly afterward, however, the driver can be seen picking up the pizza again and walking away from the house with it.
Homeowner Rushes Outside After Spotting the Driver
It is unclear whether the homeowner was watching the situation unfold in real time, but she came outside just before the driver could disappear and yelled for her to stop and come back. The driver then turned around and returned to the porch with the pizza.
According to the customer, who provided additional context in the comments under her TikTok post, the driver claimed that she “didn’t see anyone there” and said she did not want to leave the food out in the cold. The homeowner, however, did not believe that explanation and said she reported the incident to DoorDash shortly after bringing the pizza inside.
She also mentioned that she had tipped the driver and even left hand warmers for her, hoping to be kind, given the cold weather. As for why she chose to blur the driver’s face in the video, the woman explained that it was intentional, saying that “the Internet is a wild place” and that she did not want anyone attempting to track the driver down or harass her.
Netizens React to the Kalamazoo DoorDash Delivery Incident
Many netizens said they were shocked that a delivery driver would risk doing something like that, especially knowing that many homes are equipped with security cameras. “This blows my mind every time I see this,” one person wrote. Another commented, “People are so sad. I will never understand why they do that. Glad you caught her!” A third added, “That’s so wild omg. I hope you reported her.” A fourth said, “That’s why I never order DoorDash or Uber. They just don’t care.”
Others took issue with the decision to blur the driver’s face. One comment read, “You shouldn’t have covered her face. Show the culprit.” Several viewers also shared the precautions they take when ordering food delivery, with one person writing, “I always have them hand it to me and require a pin. It guarantees me my order basically.”
