Trump Gets Applause In Iowa After Suggesting He Run For a Third Term As President, ‘Should We Do It a Fourth Time?’

Not everyone was impressed

Trump’s first stop on his midterm election trail was Clive, Iowa. The president’s speech was nothing short of dramatic, rallying the crowd behind him. Many held up signs reading “LOWER PRICES” and wore red MAGA hats. While Trump continues to share his “making America great again” checklist, some people are pointing out flaws in his opening line. As the president shared an unrealistic ideal, those gathered continued to applaud.

Trump began his speech in Iowa by asking his supporters whether he should run for another presidential term.

“We did so well the second time, I said, ‘Well, we won’t twice, we got to do it a third time,'” Trump said to attendees. As people cheered in the background, Trump paused before adding, “Should we do it a fourth time?” He smiles at the crowd, saying, “For victory. We got the right team over there.” As he points off-screen, more people in the crowd cheer, and Trump goes on to say how easy it would be.

In that same speech, the president addressed what would happen if he lost the midterms, saying, “If we lose the midterms, you’ll lose so many of the things that we’re talking about.” In this, Trump refers to “prices coming down,” in reference to the affordable housing many people were promised during his first term. Despite the devastation in Minnesota, Trump kept his speech focused on the economy, repeating much of the same about trade tariffs, and implying that inflation is a myth.

An Unimpressive Rally

However, not everyone watching bought his speech. Many hinged on his opening statement, which they found immature and unintelligent.“There are more genetics in my wife’s flower garden than there are in the crowd,” one user watching on Reddit says. “I couldn’t tell if that was a demand or a ‘we did it!’ because, honey, are the lower prices in the room with us?” another replies.

Some people even remarked about Trump’s supporters. “That was a way more muted response than I anticipated. Still too many cheers, but not as loud as I thought it’d be. Got close to humoring an old man territory,” one Redditor notes. Others didn’t bother hiding their disgust, saying, “Every single one of those people sitting behind him is a terrible human being, and I hope they know that.”
