Usually, parents will do everything in their power to keep their kids safe, but one SoCal parent went the extra mile to do just the opposite. Having DoorDashers drop off deliveries at locations other than a recipient’s home isn’t anything new. However, it’s undeniably creepy when someone has a driver meet their kid directly for a food delivery. That said, this California parent doxed their daughter’s middle school, name, and dance practice schedule just to have her delivered a meal.
As always, the devil’s in the details, as the parent told the DoorDasher exactly which school to go to and where their daughter would be located and doing at said time. Now, some of the parent’s personal information is likely viewable, more or less, as a DoorDash customer. It’s not like the driver has free access to said info, of course, besides being given the address for a delivery to their house. But that’s all strictly business between adults. This is a child we’re talking about here, and a middle schooler at that. In this day and age, it’s almost imperative for parents to ensure their children’s safety and privacy to a reasonable extent.
That all being said, the Dasher was rather concerned about the customer’s instructions, if not feeling awkward, so they posted the message to r/DoorDashDrivers. The comment section was overwhelmingly filled with the aura of “What in tarnation was this parent thinking?” As one user points out, “I would never put my kid in that situation, nor would I ever send a stranger into a school to deliver food.” Another Redditor, who assumed the DoorDash customer was a mother, exclaimed, “Is she wanting her child to get kidnapped by a stranger? That’s so wrong on so many different levels.”
Not to mention, it would be incredibly creepy for the Dasher and everyone in the middle school gym present for a grown adult, possibly a man, to be calling out a girl’s name among a group of young female students in their practice attire. It just exudes stalker behavior and would likely get anyone to notify the school staff, security, or even police.
In the end, many of the post’s commenters agree that the delivery should go straight to the school’s office for pickup. No one should ever be instructed to do what the parent wants under any circumstances. It’s a middle school gym with children in dance practice, for goodness sake. If the customer’s message means anything, as one commenter points out, it’s that “this parent is an idiot.”
