‘Disgusting’ Texas DoorDasher Demands Customer with Female Name Meet Him Outside in the Dark Down the Street From Their Home: ‘He Was 100% Going To Kidnap You’

Fancy a midnight stroll?

A stranger telling you to come meet them outside at night usually doesn’t spell good intentions. And while one DoorDasher in Texas had a somewhat solid reason due to some map confusion, it should be a no-brainer that no one would want to go out into the dark just for the sake of a delivery. But instead of trying to work with the customer to find the property’s multiple entrances, the driver refused and threatened to leave without completing the order.

“I don’t mind meeting dashers at the entrance to our building, but the dasher wanted me to meet them completely down the street from my building in some dark area I did not feel comfortable meeting them at,” the Texan explained in their r/doordash post. However, after trying to reason with the driver, the order was suddenly marked as delivered. To make matters worse, the DoorDash app refused to grant the customer a refund or replacement. “I gave a $10 tip too lol,” they sighed.

One Reddit commenter made a good point, asking OP whether they use a “feminine name” for their DoorDash account. As many horror stories on the internet will prove, there are some creepy male drivers who will “magically” get lost and need their female-named customers to come meet them in the dark. OP did respond, claiming the account is under their girlfriend’s name, so changing it would definitely be ideal. “This is disgusting that that’s a fact!” exclaimed another user.

Plenty of commenters praised OP for not giving in and going out to meet the DoorDasher in the dark of the night. “He was 100% going to kidnap you,” remarked a Redditor. “Definitely made the right decision by not meeting them,” agreed a second. “It’s called Door Dash, not Dark Alley Dash!!” joked a third. Hopefully, the next time OP orders something from DoorDash under their now ‘non-feminine name,’ they won’t have any creepy drivers require them for a midnight stroll to get their delivery.
