A woman in Raleigh, North Carolina, was left alone with her kids after her boyfriend left their apartment. Suddenly, she noticed a man lurking outside, caught on her doorbell camera. Realizing the door was left unlocked, she ran to lock it for her safety, and the man immediately left.
Part 1: Back Story: This man on a few occasions, before this incident (within 1 week span) waited until my boyfriend would leave to come walking by our door, looking at the ring camera every time. He would walk slow like on this video and ONLY would come out at night. So I showed the apartment manager the videos of him walking by on several occasions and how it was only at night time when my boyfriend would leave. Which had me concerned. So I asked if he lived in this building and she said no, he is visiting his mom in the other apartment building. But I was also told to be careful because several women has came forward about him walking up on them only at night time as they go to enter their apartment. Also in different apartment buildings but same complex. Fast forward a couple days on this evening my boyfriend had left shortly before this and told me to LOCK the door but I got tied up with the kids and forgot to lock it. Then my ring camera went off, so I assumed that it was him coming back because maybe he forgot something. I was in the middle of getting our kids dressed for bed. So I didn’t get a chance to look at my ring camera, but I also thought about how I didn’t hear him come in the door. Again, not thinking anything about it because sometimes the ring camera goes off when it hears a noise. But I know it wasn’t my neighbors in this breezeway because they are all older and don’t come out after dark. So I continued on, but then my ring camera kept going off back to back so again I thought maybe it was just a cat walking by because there is some feral cats out here. It went off AGAIN for the third time so in my head I was like what is going on. That’s when I opened up my camera live and seen this man who I was just warned about, standing there in front of my door, looking like he was contemplating something!!! So I immediately jumped up to make sure the door was locked. While still watching him and IT WAS UNLOCKED!!! So I pushed the door, which I seen on the camera he heard it and turned then heard me lock it and walked the fastest I have seen him walk on the camera period!!!! 😰I was scared but I was really scared when I looked back at what all was going on before I was able to look at the camera!!!! While watching it, I said to myself, it looked like he was battling something in his head. And it looked like he was talking to himself almost like something was telling him to do something, but then his conscience would come in to play and that’s when he would turn around real quick. Which definitely scares me because mental health is a real thing and I know this I’ve seen way too many things go wrong!!! After this incident occurred as soon as my boyfriend got back home, he immediately went straight over there to confront him!! Ring camera footage of the creepy man was shared on TikTok by Shawnna. According to her, this unknown man had been walking past her front door for a week, and he only appeared once her boyfriend left her alone with their children at night.
Worried about her safety, she showed some footage to the apartment manager, who revealed the strange man didn’t live at the building, but was visiting his mother instead at another building entirely. He, however, had allegedly approached other women at night as they tried to enter their apartments.
Then, as shown in the clip above, Shawnna was left alone once again after her boyfriend exited their home. He told her to lock the doors, but she forgot, as she was tending to their children. She received a notification from her Ring camera, and she believed her boyfriend had come back. However, she found it strange that he didn’t come inside.
Upon checking the doorbell camera, she found the man she had been warned about, lurking outside her apartment. Frantically, she walked to the door, and she realized it was unlocked. After pushing the door and locking it, the man “walked the fastest I have seen him walk on the camera,” the North Carolina woman said, leaving the building.
Creepy Man Confronted, Comes Back
In a follow-up, Shawnna revealed her boyfriend, Darius, confronted the man at his mother’s apartment. He overheard that the man struggled with mental issues and that he usually goes on walks. Darius, however, told him to walk around somewhere else. He didn’t listen, as he once again appeared outside his and Shawnna’s apartment, apologizing.
Many users reacted to the North Carolina woman’s video, with some of them questioning why her boyfriend left the door unlocked. The majority, however, were worried about the family’s safety.
“That could’ve ended differently…” one user said. Another one commented, “God was with you and your kids that day.” A third one added, “He was definitely working up the courage to go inside, so scary.”

In the end, Shawnna called the police and filed a report. Apparently, the man still showed up again, even after apologizing, but that update has yet to be uploaded.
