In a wild scene caught on a now-viral video, a bunch of Oklahoma teens were holding a sizable anti-ICE protest at a Braum’s, of all places, and some folks in the parking lot decided they wanted some extra beef with their meal. As the students were protesting, an elderly Conservative couple decided to jump right in their faces with a camera and begin antagonizing the youth for no apparent reason.
In a video, “Cuz 60 YOs are acting like kids”, shared to the PublicFreakout Reddit, you can see the entire event transpire. Teens are gathering, and an elderly couple rushes them and gets in their face with cusses, and beat red face,s clearly displaying their anger towards the otherwise peaceful anti-ICE protests.
Many folks online had plenty to say about the old couple getting in the mix, and the ageism was off the charts.
“Like, you got nothing better to do? I can’t imagine seeing a group of 30 kids and thinking that this is my moment to draw the line.”
“Boomers and Gen X let the pedos take over this country and run it into the ground.”
“Weird the group that criticized Good and Pretti for inserting themselves in dangerous situations do the same and expect no consequences… those two would have been mauled in a hotter situation. I’m frankly surprised the kids didn’t jump them”
“These older folks and their stupidity might have accomplished a couple of good things, though. These kids are learning the hard way that voting really does matter. Half of these kids could have grown up and never voted at all, but I’ll bet they will now. If older peoples’ goal is to fire up the youth vote and have them vote in favor of everything these people loathe (taxing the rich, universal health care, universal child care, free school lunches, etc), they’re doing a fine job. I think we should encourage more old folks to walk up on protesting kids and be assholes. That could actually work out quite well in the not so distant future.”
Scathing commentary on the incident and the elderly couple aside, this is just one more incident in a seemingly never-ending string of them ever since the Trump administration emboldened ICE to remove illegals from various cities. After the tragic deaths last month, Oklahoma and many other Conservative states are seeing a huge uptick in these political showdowns.
