A man driving a white Mercedes in Boynton Beach, Florida, has sparked outrage online after he was filmed following another driver while making what appeared to be a controversial salute often associated with extremist imagery. The other driver, who is a young Black woman, claims that she and the man had gotten into a verbal confrontation beforehand, where the latter allegedly called her a racial slur.
Although that portion of their interaction was not captured on camera and therefore cannot be independently confirmed, the footage did show him trailing closely behind her vehicle in traffic with his arm raised in a rigid gesture that many viewers said resembled the offensive salute.
Not only did he keep his arm stretched out like that for an extended period, he also, at one point, appeared to use his other hand to quickly drag his thumb across his neck, a motion often interpreted as a threatening gesture.
The woman recorded the incident through her rearview mirror and later shared the clip to TikTok, asking viewers to help identify the driver.
Viewers’ Response to the Video
In her comments, a lot of viewers are having a field day trying to identify the man, with popular social media commentator @Tizzyent also reposting the video on his own page for his followers to join in the hunt. Beyond that, many netizens found the encounter very disturbing, with one even asking, “Is it not considered a hate crime?” Another person said, “Sorry you went through that though. Must have been scary.” A third commented, “Being called a slur is really an unforgettable experience.”
Several people also called out the driver’s behavior directly. “Acting pretty sassy with that salute,” one viewer remarked. “Why is he motioning his thumb across his throat at you? Threats should be taken seriously,” someone else wrote, while another added, “These actions need consequences.”
As of now, the cause of the dispute still remains unclear, and the Florida woman has not publicly stated whether she reported the incident to local authorities.
