It’s no secret that a sizable percentage of Trump supporters prefer (or have) people of color as their spouses, but that kind of relationship preference can easily backfire, especially when President Trump’s policies have directly led to potential migrant spouses getting banned in the US. Such is the case for one forlorn husband in Missouri, whose Thai wife now can’t enter the US thanks to the Trump administration’s suspension of visa issuance for 75 countries.
The misfortune allegedly happened to a “rural Missouri” Trump supporter who not only voted for Trump in the previous election, but also harbored a dislike for former President Joe Biden. Sadly, Thailand was among the list of countries where US visa issuance was suspended, so now the Missouri man’s wife can’t return to the US. The longing husband could only beg Trump on his Facebook, writing, “President Trump. I voted for you. Please allow my wife to come home to America.”
The Missouri man’s plea has since gone viral on Reddit, though the critics have opted to maintain the man’s anonymity. In the post, the man’s Thai wife could even be seen complaining about the Trump administration’s anti-immigration policies, which have become a legal barrier in their relationship.
For the record, the visa suspension, which took effect on January 21, means individuals seeking permanent residency and green cards in the US are affected and can no longer do so. The Trump administration’s justification is that such immigrants supposedly have a higher likelihood of depending on US welfare.
People Online Believe He Reaped What He Sowed
It appears the Missouri man has failed to gain the sympathy of Redditors, however, as people have stalked the man’s Facebook profile and found out that he had been advocating for Trump’s return to the White House. More than that, he was even posting satirical jabs at Biden while simultaneously announcing, “Thank God for Trump. Keeping our nation alive and going. He actually fights for our great country.”
Hence, commenters have mocked the Missouri man for supporting the very situation that’s making his marriage difficult right now. “You specifically voted for this person, to do this particular thing, and NOW? You are having it kick you in the [expletive]? And you’re upset? [expletive] you in particular. FAFO,” rants a commenter.
Others were pointing out how Trump won’t really heed the Missouri man’s begging online, “I love how they think he gives two [expletive] about them.” Finally, someone suggested a solution, “You can always go to Thailand and become their problem.” Such scenarios are not isolated cases, as one Florida man is even undergoing a similar situation with his Cuban wife.
