People should respect each other’s freedom of speech, but a security guard at an H-E-B in Texas didn’t do that. A customer who wanted to enter the store shared a video showing how the security guard was preventing him from doing so. He took issue with the customer’s anti‑Trump and anti‑ICE flags on his truck. One was saying “[expletive] Trump” while the other one was saying “[expletive] ICE.”
Apparently, the Texas security guard also had a problem with the customer carrying a weapon. This made him argue that there was nothing said about open carry there and that he had it concealed. That’s when the guard asked him to leave the property. Rather than do that, the customer immediately refused. He even told the guard to call the cops on him since he was telling him to take off his flags. The guard then argued that he was just doing his job. At this point, another man from the store came outside and tried to de-escalate the situation. The customer stood his ground as he repeated once again that he won’t take his flags down.
“He needs to learn the [expletive] law,” the customer argued. He then added, “It’s freedom of speech.” The customer also claimed that if he had a flag saying “I love Trump” the security guard wouldn’t have done anything about it. He believed that he was only talking because it was an anti-Trump flag. That was when the new man admitted that the guard made a wrong call and that he would have a conversation with him. Despite this, the customer wasn’t calming down. He asked the guy if he spoke Spanish and when he said yes, he started talking to him in Spanish.
The customer kept arguing once again that if the flags had “I love daddy Trump” on them, nothing would have happened. He also believed that the security guard confronted him because he had the Mexican flag as well. Finally, he started heading toward the store to get what he needed from there. Despite this, he kept filming the security guard and talking about how he wanted him to remove his flags.
People Reacting to the Texas Customer Refusing to Take Down His Flags
A lot of people applauded the Texas customer for refusing to take down his anti-Trump flags. One person believed that it wasn’t part of H-E-B’s policy for the security guard react like that. “Definitely not policy. Been to many heb in Texas and I’ve seen several trump flags or [expletive] Biden flags on peoples giant trucks. Don’t think anyone from heb has told them they can’t park there. Just a single dude on a power trip,” they wrote. Another person then said, “That guy is definite ICE as his other job. He has to work at HEB because ICE hasn’t been paying their thugs.” Someone else commented, “I bet if the flags said [expletive] Biden this guy would be taking selfies next to the car.”
More people supported the customer as one person called him, “Patriot.” Another person said, “Good for him though for standing up and making a point. It (probably) wouldn’t be an issue for HEB if it was one of those ‘pro-trump’ [expletive] trucks.” Others believed that the security guard is allowed to refuse service as someone wrote, “This is just stupidity on both sides. The driver of the truck has the first amendment right to fly any message he wants. The shopkeeper has the right to deny service to anybody he wants, so long as it’s not ADA discriminatory. This didn’t need to be a confrontation. Just take your money elsewhere.” He was still allowed to enter the store at the end.
