A group of women walking through downtown Philly late at night drew the attention of at least three bystanders after they were seen confronting a man who was standing close to them on a sidewalk. According to one of the women, who shared the incident on TikTok, the Pennsylvania man had been trailing behind her group and, after they noticed him and told him to leave them alone, he refused to budge. In the videos, which have since gone viral, the stranger can be seen wearing a beanie and a puffer jacket.
A female passerby eventually stepped in to help and began yelling for him to leave, shouting, “Move” and “Go” repeatedly. However, even as she told him the “girls don’t wanna walk with you,” he still did not walk away. He barely took a few steps before coming to a halt and staring at the woman as she continued raising her voice.
It wasn’t until a male passerby positioned himself between the man and the women and began guiding him away from the group that he finally started moving. The women followed at a distance to ensure he left completely, yelling for him to “walk” and that “he’s following us.”
Things Escalated From There
Shortly afterward, another woman who saw what was happening joined in and confronted the man. Unlike the earlier intervention, this encounter was more intense. She got directly in the man’s face, and when he tried to put distance between them, she chased him.
It’s not clear whether any physical altercation occurred after they moved some distance away, but two other men and the initial group of women were later seen in another clip attempting to keep them apart.
People’s Reaction to the Pennsylvania Incident
On TikTok, netizens’ reactions have been divided. Some were astonished that the man had not walked away sooner. “He is still standing there with all the screaming. Lord help us,” one person wrote. Someone else noted, “The fact another GUY had to guide him away is wild….” A third added, “WHY IS HE NOT GETTING THE HINT!!!!!!”
However, other viewers were not convinced that the man had actually followed the women in the first place. “Plot twist: he’s deaf and was walking in a new city and was scared to walk alone at night,” one comment speculated, while another suggested, “He’s walking on the sidewalk minding his business.”
Despite the divided opinions, many people praised the women who stepped in to help, with one saying, “I’d feel safe walking with her😭,” and another adding, “She has inspired me to start acting like this 😭😭😭.”
