A Michigan teacher was recently fired after a video surfaced that shows her using profanity in a heated exchange with a student. In the video, she tells the student that “nobody wants to come in here and deal with his [expletive].” In an interesting twist, people have rallied in her defense, demanding she be given her job back and blaming her outburst on how awful students behave.
It’s unclear what started the situation, as the video only shows the outburst. In it, the teacher shouts, “You calm down, little boy!” The student then threatens to tell his mother, to which the Michigan teacher says, “Your mom’s gonna come beat the [expletive] out of me. So we calling people to beat the [expletive] out of each other? All right. All right, [expletive].“ The video ends with the teacher saying, “Is that what we’re doing?” Following the video’s release, it was announced that the teacher is “no longer employed by the Pontiac School District.”
The official statement from the school district reads, “This behavior does not reflect our values or the standards we expect from our staff.” It continues, “The matter was addressed promptly, and the employee involved no longer works for the district.” The school assures, “We appreciate our families’ continued support as we work to ensure instructional continuity and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.” However, people are not pleased with this decision.
