Despite that, many Minnesota residents continued to protest and fight back against ICE agents. One unique way they expressed their dissatisfaction was by holding an “Abolish ICE” concert. The band Dropkick Murphys also performed during this event. The concert was held to show solidarity among Minnesota residents, and the money raised was planned to support several Twin Cities organizations.
The concert lasted several hours, and as expected for this time of year, there was a light drizzle that accompanied the crowd. Despite the weather, many Minnesota residents still showed up. Aside from Dropkick Murphys, the Irish band Wild Colonial Bhoys and comedian Kathy Griffin also performed.
In a clip uploaded to Reddit, you could see the Minnesota anti‑ICE concert in action with the crowd clapping in time with the music. During the opening set, singer Ken Casey addressed the audience, expressing his appreciation and thanking Minnesota residents for continuing their fight against ICE.
Many Reddit users who saw the video also showed their appreciation for the event. Some applauded the musicians and other figures who attended the Minnesota concert. “Dropkick Murphys were there 🤘🏼 They have recently released a song named ‘Abolish ICE,’” one user wrote.
For those who missed the event, one user mentioned a way to watch a full recording of the Minnesota concert. The user said, “If anyone is interested, the whole day can be seen at abolishice.live. It’s about 7 hours, with 10 bands—it was an incredible day. Dropkick Murphys played an acoustic one-hour set around 4 pm.”
Others, however, expressed concern about how coverage of ICE activities in Minnesota and other states was dwindling. Many worried that Americans would forget about the ongoing issues in the state in favor of the recent U.S.–Iran war.“True. All my feeds have shifted. I know there is still resistance out there, but it really feels like the algorithms have been manipulated,” one user said. Another wrote, “ICE hasn’t stopped either. They’re being clever or trying to be. Putting Uber or Lyft stickers on their cars, pride flags, all sorts of things.”
There were also those who questioned such claims, saying they hadn’t noticed a trend of Minnesota ICE incidents being censored. “Posts are being suppressed? I haven’t seen as many (or any, really) in the last month or so, and I’m not denying that they’re being suppressed, but are they really? Is there proof?” one Redditor wrote.
