Although the series is all about hunting and hatching monsters, sometimes, side quests aren’t about those at all. Instead, they test how well you understand the world of Monster Hunter. For example, there are the quiz quests and the culinary questline that might stump Monster Hunter Stories 3 players if you don’t remember specific trivia. To help you clear them quickly, here are all the quiz answers and cooking solutions you’ll need.

The Appurrentice is first met at Canalta Timberland, Howlinyowl Forest. For the first quest, his supervisor is asking him for a fish-based dish that ‘warms the body and soul.’

Contingency Stew is the correct dish for this quiz. You’ll need to purchase Fish Dish Recipe 2 first from the Melynx Emporium for 1,200 Silver Trade Tickets, though. Then collect Sushifish x3, Blue Mushroom x2, Sap Plant x1, and Nullberry x1 to cook it.

Later on, you will meet the Felyne Appurrentice Chef at Tarkuan, Bountiful Dunes, at the oasis. This time, the apprentice needs something spicy that ‘burns like fire.’

This time, you’ll have to cook the Bubbly Magma Stew. Buy the Meat Dish Recipe 2 from the nearest Emporium for 450 Silver Trade Tickets. You’ll also need these ingredients: Raw Meat x3, Fire Herb x1, Hot Pepper x2, and Nitroshroom x2.

For the final test, the apprentice came straight to your base in Galyad. He asks for a meal that ‘refills stamina’ and ‘strengthens Kinship.’ This time, however, the recipe isn’t available for purchase. Instead, you have to complete all of Eleanor’s Side Stories first to unlock it.

The dish is called Rangers’ Reminiscence, available in the Eleanor’s Specialties menu in the Ranger Mess. It requires Nitroshroom x2, Fire Herb x2, Soapgrass x2, and Raw Meat x3.

At Blightstone Woods, you’ll cross paths with a loyal Felyne assistant who is looking for a recipe to refresh his lord’s appetite. The solution to this cooking quest isn’t immediately obvious, as the required recipe isn’t available by default.

First, you’ll need to purchase Fish Dish Recipe 2 from a Melynx Emporium. Once unlocked, you’ll gain access to the dish Fish in the Limelight. Cook it and run back to the Dedicated Felyne Aide to complete the request.

Rewards:

  • Muscle Food x1.
  • 13,000 XP.
  • 1,000 Silver Trade Tickets.

These quests are easy to complete once you know the answers, but figuring them out blindly can take time. With the solutions above, you should be able to quickly finish every quiz and cooking challenge in Monster Hunter Stories 3.
