However, there are still many people who not only fail to understand this but also judge those who don’t want to have children — and sadly, these are sometimes people very close to them. For example, this influencer in LA, California, shared that her mother was having a meltdown because she still doesn’t have any grandchildren. These kinds of attitudes are perceived as nothing more than pressure and emotional blackmail.
The influencer @jaustin327 usually posts skits on TikTok about the daily situations she experiences as someone who chose to be childfree. These skits often feature strangers and even family members who judge her. However, the straw that broke the camel’s back was her mother, who unintentionally forced this comedian to make a venting video. In the video, this influencer in LA, California, vented about how her own mother was making a huge scene because she doesn’t have any grandchildren yet. All because Julia, the influencer, spent a few days visiting her family, and during her visit, they ran into one of her friends, who announced she was expecting a baby.
The main point is that Julia saw her mother have an episode of what I call “Grandma jealousy” because she doesn’t have any grandchildren. Not only that, but the influencer’s mother said she was sad “for not having that kind of life.” Julia didn’t know how to react, and just because her mother was upset didn’t mean she was going to have children to make her happy. The influencer just didn’t understand why her mother would say something like that to her. As a result, online reactions came flooding in, and many sided with Julia.

Many more users said that this is just a form of emotional blackmail to make Julia give in to the idea of having children. Others, however, pointed out that it doesn’t matter whether Julia is an only child or not.

Hopefully, people will understand not to judge others’ choices and respect them. Not everyone has the same goals, and that doesn’t mean they’re wrong.
