A truck driver trainer in Indianapolis, Indiana, suffered a major accident while training a new driver during his first day at the job. His semi-truck had flipped over. Thankfully, both men were okay, but many fell in love with how shockingly calm the man behind the wheel was, making him a viral sensation.
The semi-truck driver was Dutchie Dutch, who shared his unfortunate, albeit lighthearted experience on TikTok. From the get-go, he was pretty relaxed, saying, “I’m flipped over in a semi-truck.” The clip cuts to the semi-truck being, in fact, flipped over in the freezing and snowy weather.
Dutch was sitting inside the truck’s cabin alongside Will. The former told the latter as he filmed themselves, “What’s up, brother?” Will, perhaps not fully believing how “chill” Dutch was, laughed. He then revealed that Will was standing up and checking on his phone with the truck flipped over. Dutch, meanwhile, was still sitting in the driver’s seat with his seatbelt on.
“You know I’m fired,” Dutch joked, perhaps anticipating his work-related fate. Keeping things lighthearted, Will revealed it was his first day in the job, and Dutch was actually his trainer. Not only that, but Will also followed Dutch online, which made the whole experience even more dramatic.
“I don’t know why he picked me to be the trainer,” the Indiana driver said, with both men bursting in laughter. “It’s a bad learning experience for you.”
Finally, both men stepped out of the truck, and once again, as snow fell on his head, Dutch said he was going to be fired. The clip eventually ended with an emergency responder asking if he felt any back pain or had lost his consciousness. He answered negatively, fortunately for him.
Calm Driver Goes Viral
Given how relaxed and calm he was after an accident of that magnitude, the Indiana man’s clip blew up. More than 23.6 million people watched the video, with four million of them liking his TikTok. The reactions were as hilarious as his clip.
“How long have you been on Lexapro?” one user asked. Another commenter said, “Jobs are temporary. Trauma bonds are forever.” A third netizen added, “Sometimes you watch the safety video. Sometimes you’re in the safety video.”
Fortunately, Dutch revealed in a follow-up clip that both he and Will still had a job. He did have a neck collar, though, and is now a trainee himself. Hopefully, he will be able to get back on his feet, as he appears to have a big heart, almost as big as his truck.
