A woman in Indiana is going viral after responding with pettiness following an encounter with an obnoxious man in a Walmart parking lot.

The woman shared a video recounting the incident at her local Walmart parking lot, where a man tried to take her parking spot despite there being an empty space just two spots away.

The woman decided to embrace her inner “Petty Betty” and stay in the parking spot as long as necessary. The situation was made worse by the man glaring at her while she struggled to load heavy items into her car alone. Rather than offering assistance, he simply watched and honked his horn instead of using the nearby empty spot. In the video, she humorously commented, “I have to wait here until I die.”

The woman went on to share examples of how far she was willing to go to avoid leaving the parking spot. “I will DoorDash my dinner here,” she said, adding, “I have the time.” She also worked from her phone, much to the man’s dismay, noting that the parking lot had excellent reception. Additionally, her parents live nearby, and her mother wouldn’t mind bringing her food, making it clear that she could stay in the spot as long as she wanted.

Most would have expected the man to give up and use the empty parking spot, but he did not. In a follow-up video, the woman shared that he waited for her to leave for about 25 to 30 minutes. “I would have waited there for 25 to 30 years,” she explained. When he finally left and gave her the middle finger, she responded by blowing him a kiss.

The video received widespread positive reactions, with many viewers agreeing that the woman was justified in being petty. It sparked conversations about how some people, like the man, create unnecessary conflicts. Several women shared that they would have done the same, recounting their own experiences of embracing pettiness in similar situations.

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers sided with the Indiana woman, finding it surprising that the man waited for 25 to 30 minutes before finally leaving. “Waiting 25-30 min for a parking space is insaneeee omg lol why would he do that,” one person wrote. The woman then commented, “And when there were a TON of open spots around me too. He was absolutely just being rude, and that’s why I had to prove a point. I’ll never understand people like that.”

Dozens of women shared their support for the Indiana woman, recounting similar experiences. “I like to put my car in reverse, sit there a minute or two, back up just a little bit, pull back in, and get out and walk towards the store again,” one woman wrote. Another added, “I ate an entire rotisserie chicken in my car in a Walmart parking lot for exactly this reason once. It was delicious.” A third suggested what the man could have done, saying, “My husband heard this and said, ‘maybe he should have gotten out and helped her put her bags in the car’ — that is the mind of a true gentleman.”

The man’s behavior likely served as a lesson in patience. The video also highlighted how many people are willing to embrace pettiness when the situation calls for it.
