Beyond Good and Evil 2 had a huge showing today at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, and it’s looking extremely promising so far.
A brand new cinematic trailer featured some new faces, including Uma, the chief medic, and Calum, the chief engineer, aboard a space pirate ship on their search for a deep space artifact. Their mission is brought to a screeching halt when a much bigger ship plows into the side of our protagonists’ vessel. As the motley crew makes their way topside, their arch nemesis is revealed, and as it turns out…
It’s a young Jade, who fans will recognize as the hero of the original Beyond Good and Evil. That’s right, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is a prequel!
Followed by this tense powerhouse of a trailer, a small chunk of pre-alpha gameplay footage was showcased. Shown was the city of Ganesha; a bustling metropolitan destination with towering sacred temples and a seedy criminal underground. Ship-to-ship combat, as well as melee and jetpacking were all included in the footage. The RPG space opera will be playable on your own, or with friends in co-op.
In addition, HITRECORD’s own Joseph Gordon-Levitt graced the stage to help announce Ubisoft’s Space Monkey Program, in which all artists and creatives from around the world will be invited to design parts of the game. The contributions will include street art, radio content, music, and much more.
More Beyond Good and Evil 2 gameplay will be shown at the behind-closed-doors demo, and we cannot wait to hear about all the details.
