A police officer at a Walmart in Latham, New York” in Latham, New York, has been caught on video accusing a woman of not paying for her purchases after receiving a digital receipt because she was unable to open it in the store.

God forbid a girl gets a digital receipt and then Walmart has bad service so it won’t open… so l ask a police officer for help because the Walmart associate won’t let me leave because it won’t open but then some Karen walks up to the police officer (LYING) and says oh I saw her she didn’t pay. Yet security came and pulled it up on the cameras and looked back at the transactions and guess what? | PAID … this was literally disgusting and humiliating. The fact that I went out of my way to ask for help and then got told “honestly I don’t think you paid” and “get a paper receipt next time” is mind blowing. Do better Latham NY @Walmart #walmart #police #dobetter

Various department stores have modern self-checkout counters for faster purchases. However, this has also left room for opportunities to shoplift, which is what the woman is being accused of. Store employees later confirmed she had paid for her items and, according to the video, was not offered an apology from the officer.
