One Texas man’s Amazon order ended up in a place where he least expected it to be: his trash bin. Reddit user TexasHuck, who claims to live out in the country, said that an Amazon driver had placed his order inside of his trash box. As to why the delivery was inside a trash bag before being put into the box, TexasHuck explained that it was raining, so the the delivery person put the packages inside to keep them dry.
“We have a trash box where we have to put bags of trash,” TexasHuck wrote. “They come by and only take the bags out. Occasionally the bags break and leave stuff in the bottom. Yesterday was trash day so there were no bags in.” While it might be easy to conclude the driver was being malicious with the trash box delivery, many were certain there was a misunderstanding.
“This is the driver’s photo so he sees exactly what is inside there. With that said, lots of amazon packaging in there so it might be mistaken for a safety box,” remarked one commenter. “If the driver was considerate enough to bag it before dropping it then it’s totally a mistake on their part not malicious intent,” pointed out another.
Plenty of Redditors found the scene rather humorous as well, considering the Texas Amazon driver put the order in a trash bag for protection, only to allegedly put it into the trash by accident. “That would be a genius solution to the package theft problem,” said a Redditor. “As long as it’s not trash pickup day, this works pretty well to deter porch pirates,” agreed another.
Luckily, as TexasHuck pointed out, the day prior to the order’s arrival was trash day, so the packages would technically have been “safe” until the next trash day. Still, it’s quite gross to dig through one’s trash bin to retrieve delivered mail of all things, though the Amazon driver was allegely just trying to be considerate.
