A mother in Utah is facing online criticism after being accused of mistreating her daughter’s friend.

The mom posted a video showing her daughter and her daughter’s friend sitting in her car. She had bought the trending dumplings and gave one to each girl to open, but she made what many viewers saw as an unfair deal.

The video quickly went viral, surpassing 12 million views. In it, the daughter’s friend excitedly revealed she had gotten the rare glitter dumpling. The mom then said, “Well, you know the deal,” while her own daughter did not get the rare dumpling.

It turned out that the mom told her daughter’s friend that if she got the glitter dumpling and her daughter didn’t, she would take it and give it to her daughter instead. “Because I bought them,” she said. She then offered to give Maddie, the daughter’s friend, another dumpling afterward, adding, “If she can get lucky,” since there was no guarantee she would get the rare one next time.

The video angered many viewers online, but the mom defended her actions in the comments. “Yes, I am favoring the child I gave birth to most parents would and I still bought her a friend a toy seems like a win-win to me,” she wrote. She also added, “She knew the deal. This was not a surprise. She didn’t need to come. She was told if it’s the glitter one she was not gonna be able to keep it but she could keep the other one and she agreed.”

The mom later shared additional videos explaining her actions, stressing that Maddie knew the deal beforehand. She also stated that she treats Maddie as if she were her own daughter.

The video is gaining attention because it showed what many viewers saw as unfair treatment of a young girl. It sparked discussions about how some parents may set a bad example for their children and highlighted the importance of being careful about who children spend time with.

Internet Users React to the Utah Mom’s Selfish Action

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers believed the Utah mom’s actions were unfair and wrong. “Bro that’s messed up favoritism right there,” one person wrote. Another added in disbelief, “Wait am I understanding this right. The friend opened the glitter dumpling and the mom took it for her own daughter? And she’s using the ‘I bought them’ card? If this is true that’s horrible.”

More people criticized the mom, with one person writing, “Well, that was kind of rude. If you had your daughter’s friend open the glitter dumpling in front of her own face and not keep it that was rude.” Another added, “I get she ain’t your kid and the other is..but teaching your child to be grateful for what they get and be happy for others is an EXTREMELY important lesson to teach.”

The video led many viewers to conclude that the mom was wrong and mistreated her daughter’s friend.
