A Hawaii influencer shared that one of her followers had shown up at her children’s school and asked for a photo during school hours, even though she is very private about her kids. As a result, she is warning her followers to never put their own children on the internet.

Replying to @Amanda Please finding where my children go to school at during school hours to find info to take photos. To only sit and wait till school is out to accidentally “bump” into us is weird, inappropriate and not ok!!!

The influencer is Kat Kamalani, who on TikTok alone has more than one million followers. She usually posts lifestyle content with her family, but this clip in particular stood out. It garnered more than 659,000 views, 37,400 likes, and 475 comments, making it her biggest TikTok in almost a year.

The Hawaii woman started her clip with a warning, saying, “I hope after hearing my story that you second-guess putting your children on the internet.”

Kat went on to explain that she has taken measures to ensure her children are not shown online. However, old videos of her family, including her kids, are still in circulation. Despite this, she is very adamant in not showing her kids’ faces and keeping their lives “very private.”

Kat said that she encountered someone who walked up to her husband after they left their children at school. The woman revealed that she was a follower of hers and offered family photos. After unsuccessfully trying to get Kat’s husband’s information, she left.

At home, the Hawaii woman received a call. It was her children’s school. Someone had shown up at the school during school hours and asked if Kat Kamalani’s children studied there. She then asked the school to pass a note to her with their information “because they wanna take a photo.”

Kat called it inappropriate and even said that she didn’t care if the person had good intentions. She added, “No amount of views, clicks, or money is worth their privacy.”

Internet In Shock

The video sparked many responses online. Some wondered why anyone would follow influencers to this degree. One user wrote, “Why are people so obsessed with social media people?” Another one said, “The parasocial relationships that people have with strangers are insane.”

Other viewers blasted the follower who showed up at the school, with one person saying, “Imagine she’s watched this video and knows she’s the one you’re talking about. I hope she’s embarrassed.” Finally, others agreed with the Hawaii woman’s message, with one writing, “Children are not content.”

Thanks to her online presence, Kat’s message was heard loud and clear, becoming viral. This, combined with the subsequent outrage, resulted in the clip’s success.

Kat ended her video hoping that people would delete their children’s content from the internet.
