In a viral clip, Kelly is heard saying, “The last thing I would want in a Space Shuttle crew would be seven white-guy U.S. Navy test pilots like me,” adding that such a scenario would be a “disaster.”

While the remark drew controversy, Mark Kelly explained his reasoning, allegedly saying, “It would be a disaster, and let me tell you why. The reason it would be a disaster is because we all think the same. We all have the same experience, the same training, the same kind of background.” He added that “the best option in any organization is to have people from different backgrounds, different experiences.”

The video is gaining attention due to the remarks made by Kelly about the composition of a Space Shuttle crew, which some users interpreted as controversial. The clip has sparked discussion online about diversity in professional settings, as well as differing views on whether his comments were appropriate or misinterpreted.

Reactions to Mark Kelly’s Remarks in New York

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized Mark Kelly following his remarks in New York City, with some accusing him of racism against White people. “USA was founded by and for White people. If you’re anti-White, get out! There are plenty of nonWhite countries to live in‼!” one person wrote. Another added, “What happened to judging people only by the content of their character? When was this idea considered racist? I don’t know when it happened but somewhere along the line Democrats became racists and called everyone else that WAS NOT noticing race……the racists.”

Some users also accused Kelly of hypocrisy following his remarks. “Odd for Mark Kelly to say that given that he commanded a Space Shuttle crew in 2011 made up of six white men,” one person claimed. Another added, “After he achieved everything he wanted and is worth upwards of 30 million as a white man, let’s blast white men trying to achieve.” Others argued his comments were taken out of context and aligned with broader discussions about diversity in professional settings.

The remarks continue to spark discussion online as users debate the intent and impact of his comments.
