Texas Adopted Parent Dragged For Saying They Should Have Protection If Birth Parents Change Their Mind: ‘The process is broken’

It’s good to see perspectives from both sides in these cases

A Texas woman recently shared her opinion online regarding birth parents changing their mind before a successful adoption. Now, a TikToker is sharing her opinions about what she had to say and how she disagrees with this attitude from potential adoptive parents.

TikToker @Linzjacks recently shared her opinion on something she thinks isn’t “popular in the adoption community.” According to her, she says that birth parents should always be able to make the decision to change their mind instead of putting their child up for adoption. However, she then goes on to ask, “But what protections are in place so hopeful adoptive parents aren’t taken advantage of?”

Is this not breathtakingly selfish? #failedadoption #adoption

Linz shared this opinion while talking about how some adoptive parents sink thousands of dollars into various aspects of the adoption process. They pay for hospital bills, hotels, flights, and more. Then, Linz says that the “plans change” because a birth parent changes their mind. She also adds that there is a huge “emotional toll” for the adoptive parents in these situations. Linz apparently went through this before. She said, on three different occasions, they went to adopt a child, only for the birth parents to back out.

However, many people disagree with Linz and state that this is a selfish take. TikToker @saronthings watched Linz’s video and didn’t like what she had to say. She asks Linz, “Oh, you think that mothers should be allowed to keep their children? They shouldn’t be forced to give them up for adoption? How nice of you.”

Saron says that it goes much deeper than this with adoptive parents like Linz. Saron says she feels like Linz thinks she’s “better” than moms faced with the difficult choice of putting their children up for adoption. She also takes a swing at Linz’s political stance. She adds, “Mind you, there is not a child on earth that is better off being raised by a Trump supporter.” Saron asks Linz, “Do you hear yourself when you speak? You think it’s excessive that mothers are reminded that they are allowed to keep their children if they so choose? What?!”

Many commenters chimed in with their opinions after seeing both Linz and Saron’s videos. One commenter added, “Mind you, there’s hundreds of thousands of children in foster care.” Another commenter shared, “I love that adoption is getting the representation it needs. Not enough people understand the predatory nature of it.” A third commenter shared their personal story with, “I am a birth mom. I make up my mind before I called agencies. Even I had issues finding an agency that doesn’t take advantage and parents that didn’t treat me like a ready-made baby store. I had a couple back out at the hospital because the baby was a boy. The process is broken.”

Commenters continue to react to Saron’s video, offering words of support and agreement. Others see it from another angle, where they can get on board with what Linz said because they experienced it themselves.
