Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash online after criticizing the New York Police Department over what some described as a brutal arrest. The situation began after a video of an arrest by the NYPD at a liquor store went viral. In the footage, the suspect appears to resist as two officers attempt to restrain him. The encounter involved a visible struggle, and some viewers described the force used as excessive, with the video also showing what appeared to be blood during the incident.

More users continued to criticize Mamdani following his comments about the NYPD. One person wrote, “Always siding with the criminal! Even when these looney bins charge at officers with knives and machetes! You don’t know if this man had just stabbed or assaulted someone or even threatened them. And your dumb [expletive] wants to send social workers after these people instead?” Another added, “Unlike you, most Americans support law enforcement. This individual was clearly resisting arrest. If he complied, none of this happens. Stop attacking officers and protecting criminals.”

The arrest video involving the NYPD, along with Mamdani’s response, generated significant online debate, and the situation remains controversial among viewers.
