A powerfully telling photo of an Idaho “’Leaving MAGA’ Billboard in my very red area” has gone viral on r/pics, accumulating tens of thousands of views within just an hour of being posted. The billboard, which sits right above a McDonald’s Drive-Thru, was put up by an organization called Leaving MAGA. The sign encourages anyone with doubts about their political leaning with the message, “You’re not alone.”
The Reddit post was taken and uploaded by clumsypeach1, but Leaving MAGA was founded by Rich Logis, who claims he stopped being a Trump supporter back in 2022. In a message to all MAGA Americans on the organization’s website, Logis writes, “You do not deserve to have your anxieties about change exploited. You deserve to know the truth. And with Leaving MAGA, you don’t have to feel you would be alone if you leave the movement.”
The Leaving MAGA Billboard Had Mixed Reactions, Some Hateful But Many Hopeful
Reaction to this Idaho “Leaving MAGA” billboard was mixed in the comment section, with many users condemning Trump supporters and others expressing sympathy and understanding. Countless simply claimed they were “tired” of it all and were hopeful the current administration will soon come to a close.
“I like to see this. The world may be healing?” remarked a user. “Extending an olive branch and understanding is really the only way forward,” added another, with dozens of comments saying that MAGA should be welcomed back into the fold after the “Trump era of politics,” not shunned.
Many others weren’t so gentle in their wording, accusing MAGA of wrongdoing or defining them as a “cult.” One person claims that they’ve “lost lifelong friends over this stupidity.” Another chimed in with negativity, saying that “They won’t change, they never change…”
While there’s been plenty of hatred going viral on social media over political values, this singular photo shows that there are people who wish to win over the other side without aggressive confrontation. As Leaving MAGA founder Rich Logis explained it, “MAGA is a community,” and anyone planning to leave will need a new community to go to, one with people like them.
