A woman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, fully believes that her mother doesn’t like her. As an example, she shared how, during her brother’s wedding speech, their mother called him the only “successful” child in front of her whole family. She left the wedding reception immediately, and now the internet wants her to go no contact.
The woman’s name is Roopa, who is also known as roopzthereitis on TikTok. Her content revolves around her relationship with her mother, and this latest clip is titled “My mom doesn’t like me part 3.” In a day, the video garnered 373,400 views, 28,800 likes, and more than 600 comments.
This time around, the Pennsylvania woman shared how her mother gave a speech at her brother’s wedding. She had previously accepted attending the wedding after her brother told her there would be no speeches, given the history between them. In the end, however, there was a speech that replaced a scheduled son-mother dance.
Roopa prepared for the worst, she said, as she was aware that her mother would put her down in the speech. And, according to her, right after showering her brother with praise, that’s exactly what she did.
“She made a mention that my brother was the only successful child she has,” the Pennsylvania woman said. “And he is the only one that is disciplined and smart.”
In total, there were 50 to 60 people present at the wedding, and the room filled with uncomfortable laughs, Roopa said. After all the speeches ended and some cousins told her it wasn’t that bad, she grabbed her children and left.
“We didn’t eat, we didn’t see them cut the cake, we didn’t get to dance. We didn’t get to enjoy anything,” she added.
‘Go No Contact’
The clip sparked many responses. Some users told Roopa to cut all ties with her mother, which she apparently has done already. One user commented, “Go no contact. Simple.” Another one said, “As much as it hurts, leave them in the past.”
Others criticized the Pennsylvania woman’s brother, with one viewer saying, “Your brother is so wrong for that.” Finally, some believed she had no say on what could happen at the wedding, with a user writing, “I think your brother has a right to have his mom speak.”
Family drama and toxic parents are themes that will always spark the virality fuse. In Roopa’s case, since she has been sharing similar stories about her mom, she already has an audience familiar with their relationship. As a result, the clip was commented on and shared pretty fast.
In a follow-up clip, Roopa revealed she cried all the way home after leaving the wedding.
