Colorado Mom Laments ‘Out-of-Control ‘Extortion After Car Registration Sucks Extra $200 in Fees: ‘Still Have To Drive On Pothole Roads!

Where is all the money going?

Fees in Colorado are through the roof, according to a woman lamenting how exorbitant they have become in a TikTok video. The clip starts with her confronting the government directly, focusing on the fact that they pay low taxes; meanwhile, there are other ways they generate revenue from citizens, namely through fees on every purchase over time. “You could say your taxes are low, but these fees are out of control,” she emphasized. She explained that she had just registered her 2018 Cadillac Escalade and wasn’t excited about the charges she had to pay.

Can anyone out there explain to me why we are paying these “fees”?? What are our taxes going to? Where’s all the marijuana tax going to? @Jared Polis #colorado #fees #taxes #northerncolorado

She went on to read out the fees she incurred, which included Age of vehicle add-on: $14, Registration base fee: $43, Bridge safety surcharge: $46, Clerk hire fee: $4, County road and bridge: $1.88, Emission area error account: $3, Emission clean screen: $25, Emergency medical services: $4, Emissions program area county: $1.40, Emission statewide air account: $1, Insurance fee: $1, Motorist insurance database fee: $0.20, Peace officer standardized training fee: $2, Road safety surcharge: $56, Material fee for the tab (the little sticker): $0.30, bringing them to a total of 15 fees, which sum up to $202.81 annually.

The tax on her vehicle alone, she mentioned, is $331.59, and with the added fees, the total she has to keep paying is $534.40. She crashed out, listing the charges to herself again, saying it should be criminal for anyone to charge that much.

Netizens Took Over the Rage On The Extra Fees Being Paid

It appeared as though everyone was only waiting for one person to raise the topic of discussion, as different opinions kept emerging. “And we still have to drive on pothole roads!” someone stated, pointing out the condition of the roads for vehicles they have to pay so many charges on, with another person questioning why they have to pay double taxes.

A different direction was aimed at the government, as someone stated, “This is why everyone’s tags are expired🤷🏾‍♀️,” while the disparity in how the charges affect the masses was clearly expressed in another piece: “Everything they do decimates the working class and small business owners.”

They didn’t fail to point out that every single thing the government calls a fee appears to be another form of taxing citizens. Netizens pointed out how charges are applied to nearly every purchase, noting that the government labels them as fees so they can impose amounts without restrictions. “The sad thing is $1000 is the new $100 here in Colorado. 😭 How are we supposed to afford life here if the pay rates are low?” a person wrote painfully.

The situation in Colorado shows that the government can also take money from its citizens through means other than taxes, and many are beginning to notice this pattern.
