A Florida woman blasts pet owners who constantly rehome their dogs. She claims that she often sees posts on social media in which an owner says they can “no longer give [their dog] the love and care that it deserves.” The TikTok video has riled people up, who argue they’d do whatever it takes rather than give up their pet. She has over 569,000 views, over 123,000 likes, and over 3,000 comments.
She states that she often sees dogs dumped out on the side of the road because “people get tired of them.” But what really irks her is when owners post dogs on social media with an ‘excuse’ for giving their pet away. The Florida woman argues that there are “communities that will literally come together” to offer support. This includes helping buy dog food and cover vet bills. The reason these organizations exist is that “people do not want you to keep rehoming these [expletive] dogs.” What really frustrates her is that “then months later they get a new [one].” Only for this dog to also end up eventually rehomed, which she calls a “repeated cycle that is honestly ridiculous.”
The Florida woman suggests shelters create a list of these owners to block them from getting another pet. She says, “After that second dog, you ain’t getting another one.” Her rant was sparked by seeing a girl who wanted to rehome her senior dogs, because she claimed she couldn’t handle them and two toddlers. Despite people offering to help her, she refused, and “then she’s not understanding why people are getting mad at her.” This is behavior the woman “can’t relate to.” She can’t imagine a dog spending its whole life with a person only to be discarded. She says, “The amount of selfish people we live amongst is insane.”
