Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis publicly brushed off a warning from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries over redistricting, turning a heated political threat into a direct challenge.

“F around and find out!”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries fires off a warning shot to Florida Republicans over their redistricting efforts — but Gov. Ron DeSantis is completely unfazed by the threat.

The exchange began after Jeffries issued a blunt message to Florida Republicans, saying they “started this war” and adding, “F around and find out.” The remark framed the ongoing redistricting fights as an escalating political battle between both parties.

DeSantis responded almost immediately, dismissing the warning and inviting Jeffries to take his fight directly to Florida voters.

“Please, be my guest,” DeSantis said. “I will pay for you to come down to Florida and campaign.” He went further, adding that he would even host Jeffries at the governor’s mansion, arguing there was “nothing that could be better for Republicans in Florida” than having him campaign across the state.

Backlash Frames It as a Power Clash

The sharp exchange quickly drew reactions online, with many framing DeSantis’ response as a confident counterpunch.

“Jeffries threw a warning shot and DeSantis handed him a plane ticket. Hard to argue you’re winning when the other guy’s laughing,” one user wrote.

Another added, “DeSantis with the perfect response. ‘Please be my guest.’ Florida doesn’t play games with outsiders trying to dictate our maps.”

Supporters also leaned into the optics of the moment, with one comment reading, “Love DeSantis. Wish we had him in Texas,” while another called the governor’s reply “the perfect response.”

Still, not all reactions favored DeSantis or the broader tone of the exchange. Some critics argued the rhetoric itself reflected a deeper problem.

“Sounds like both sides are turning up the heat. At the end of the day, voters decide, not soundbites,” one user wrote.

Another pushed back more directly, saying, “Republicans are going to see staggering losses this fall and they will scream ‘fraud’ endlessly while it’s 100% their fault.”

The clash highlights how redistricting battles are increasingly being fought not just through legislation and courts, but through public messaging and viral moments. What might have been a policy dispute instead played out as a direct confrontation, with each side attempting to project strength.

In this case, Jeffries issued the warning. DeSantis turned it into an invitation.
