Despite the controversies surrounding some electric vehicles, the truth is that they are extremely helpful, especially now that gas prices are rising rapidly. While some people are still struggling with these high costs and looking for ways to find cheaper gas, others are embracing the technological advances, especially in the vehicular sector. One state that is glad about all of this is Kentucky, where its residents are extremely happy to see new EV stations for people to use, especially those in smaller counties.
The image comes from Reddit user Gerowen, who shared what appears to be a parking spot for EVs with new stations. While other states have been against certain electric vehicles or have suffered their fair share of strange situations involving these cars, it seems Kentucky is happy to see these EV stations on the wild, especially those in Salyersville.
According to OP, seeing these stations is nudging them to acquire an EV, especially since some trips around the city can be pretty expensive.
“With it costing me over $60 to fill up my V-6 Dodge Journey earlier, the thought has crossed my mind more than once to get one since 90% of our driving is within a 30-mile radius.“
Several other people shared the OP’s thoughts, claiming it was great to see stations around the city, and some even echoed the OP’s opinion regarding purchasing an electric vehicle.
Kentucky Citizens Are On Board With the Arrival Of EVs
As you can see in the comments below, several Redditors agreed with OP’s idea of acquiring an EV, and some even shared comparisons between charging an EV at home now and the cost of gas.
“Charging an EV at home (about $0.14 kW) was about 1/3 the price of gas. A supercharger did cost about $0.38 kW, which was close to gas prices ($/mile). Now gas is $4 / gal, supercharger rates are $0.50 kW.”
“For the bolt I use, I put 9k miles on it, and it cost me about $258, or roughly 1/4 what it would have been if it were gas on top of no oil changes.“
A few other Reddit users chimed in, saying that these stations are a welcome sight across the state and praising them as part of the future we’re all living in.
“Very cool to see. The future is electric. We’re not getting there fast enough, but we’re getting there.“
With high gas prices, it is normal for people to look for alternatives, and it seems several citizens are on board with trading in their vehicles for a brand-new, potentially cheaper EV.
