Ever since her post of a HEB shopper wearing a hijab, Texas-based Facebook creator Kaylee Campbell has been under fire for several days, with many accusing her of racism. In response, she has struck back, calling the random shopper a “prime example of a political ideology treating women like cattle.” She continued, saying that “women are worth nothing in Islamic culture,” and thousands weren’t too pleased about her reaction to the backlash.
Just before her Facebook post of the shopper in a hijab, Kaylee Campbell also made a short video calling out HEB for allegedly selling HALAL meat. Her concern was supermarket chains pandering to the influx of Muslims and immigrants, but much of the online reaction appears to have the opposite sentiment.
Kaylee Campbell’s Posts Were Met With More Backlash Than Support
Instead of frustration over HALAL meat and Muslim shoppers being seen at HEB, countless people criticized her view and unsolicited photo shoot of a random woman in a hijab. “I’d feel safer in a room with her than with you,” remarked a user. “Oh no not a person shopping for groceries,” joked another.
Campbell’s response about women’s worth in Islamic culture was met with similar backlash. “We may not agree with different cultures and religions but you still need to respect people. Posting a picture like this looks like hate,” writes a commenter. “Minding your business is free. And Jesus also recommends it,” agreed a second.
Several people pointed out that Campbell said “spotted” in her post with the photo, claiming she was intentionally dehumanizing the shopper. “You know that’s not why you took a picture of her. ‘Spotted’ as if she’s some random animal in a grocery store. She’s a human being,” argued an individual.
On the other hand, a few people agreed with Campbell’s concerns, saying how the Muslim woman reminded them of a terrorist or someone who would be carrying explosives. However, the grand majority of upvoted comments were accusing Campbell of being in the wrong.
Regardless of what people say or the criticism she receives, Kaylee Campbell continues to share “AMERICA first” videos and posts. She’s a conservative standing firm in her beliefs, despite the backlash.
