A bizarre mix of celebrity breakup drama and internet folklore has taken over social media recently, as self-proclaimed “witches” have gone viral for placing a curse on NBA star Klay Thompson following his split from rapper Megan Thee Stallion. One of them, notably from New York, even became the poster girl for Megan Thee Stallion’s host of supernatural fans after uploading her curse application on Thompson.
The viral video, which has racked up millions of views, features the TikTok user 4theloveofkv, supposedly from New York, claiming supernatural retaliation against Thompson after allegations surfaced that he cheated during their relationship. In the clip, she dramatically declares that the Dallas Mavericks guard “will go bald and lose all his games,” adding that he will struggle to find love again. The outlandish “prophecy” quickly spread across platforms, fueling memes, debates, and a wave of copycat posts.
The controversy stems from Megan’s public announcement of the breakup on April 25, where she accused Thompson of infidelity and emotional mistreatment. In a statement shared online, the rapper emphasized that “trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable,” signaling a definitive end to their nine-month relationship.
While Thompson has not publicly responded to the allegations, the internet has largely filled the silence with speculation, and in some corners, supernatural “justice.” Fans of Megan, often referred to as the “Hotties,” have flooded social media with jokes and claims of hiring so-called “Etsy witches” to cast spells on the four-time NBA champion.
Was the Witch Serious?
It’s not clear whether the TikTok user or the other witches “hired” by Megan Thee Stallion’s Hotties are real Wiccan practitioners or whether their curses work or not. Klay Thompson might eventually find out in his next few NBA games, but the TikTok user “witch” above clarified in a follow-up video that “I’m not real… This is an AI… This is an AI,” mocking fans who warned her about Thompson sending a cease and desist.
Still, TikTok user 4theloveofkv hasn’t stopped placing curses on people, this time on the supposedly toxic exes of people in her comment section, per request. It appears certain commenters believe that the TikTok witch was indeed serious or has supernatural powers, because one commenter even requested something drastic, “Sooo I actually had been cheated on more than 6 times… I need your help.”
Meanwhile, it appears self-proclaimed witches on TikTok are not the only ones enjoying a newfound spotlight since Megan Thee Stallion’s follower count on Instagram has skyrocketed ever since she dropped the bomb about her relationship. To date, the rapper has gained more than 300,000 new followers since confirming her split with the NBA star.
