A Missouri woman was driving with her young daughter when a sudden hailstorm struck. Baseball-sized hail started to drop from the sky, and the woman quickly looked for shelter. After the storm had settled, she found that the ice balls had trashed her car, destroying the sunroof directly above her daughter’s head.
The woman in question is Tessa Ray. She usually shares lifestyle, cooking, and family content with her 60K TikTok audience. The clip in question, however, quickly became her second-most-viewed ever, garnering 1.8 million views, 206,000 likes, and nearly 2,000 comments.
The Missouri mother started her clip while driving on Route 13 with her two-year-old daughter, Stevie. According to her, the weather drastically changed from one moment to the next, going from sunny to just “black” in Springfield.
However, Tessa then cut to her completely trashed SUV. According to her, the weather got so bad that hailing began, the baseball-sized type, which felt like “gunshots.” The car’s windshield was smashed, as well as its hood. Still, the hail mostly took its toll on the sunroof, which was completely shattered.
Daughter Avoids Getting Hurt
Her daughter, thankfully, narrowly avoided getting hurt.
“Stevie was under a pillow playing, which is a miracle cause the pillow is completely covered in glass,” Tessa tearfully explained, as she showed the glass-covered pillow in the clip. Later, she explained that Stevie felt cold before the hailstorm, so she positioned the pillow on top of her as a result.
“Those could have literally killed her, hitting her head,” the Missouri woman added.
Stevie, according to her mother, was crying when she got her out of the car to safety. She then showed all the other “massive dents” on her car and even picked up one of the baseball-sized hailstones from the ground. Finally, she also shared a bruise on her back, caused by one of the hailstones.
“Just so thankful nothing hit my baby,” Tessa wrote on the clip’s description.
Internet Shocked By Hailstorm
The video sparked multiple responses online. Many viewers were glad that both Tessa and Stevie were ultimately okay. One person said, “Praise God you both are ok! Material things can always be replaced.” Another one commented, “ONLY GOD! He protected your baby in that moment.”
Other viewers reacted to how Tessa’s sunroof shattered. One user wrote, “This has 100% convinced me to never have a sunroof.” Another one added, “I’ve started closing my sunroof cover even when it rains now because I’m so scared of this happening.”
Tessa ended her clip back at her parents’ home. She showed how the hailstorm continued, with the baseball-sized ice balls dropping and hitting the neighbor’s roof.
