Governor Janet Mills of Maine has officially revealed that she will be dropping out of the race for the U.S. Senate. This allegedly comes after President Donald Trump called her out for refusing to comply with his executive order concerning banning trans women from women’s sports. The reasoning given for her dropping out of the race was a lack of the financial resources necessary to work on her campaign throughout. Commenters took to the replies to share their opinions, with many disagreeing with the decision.

It is alleged that Maine Governor Janet Mills has dropped out of the U.S. Senate race only weeks before her Democratic primary against Graham Platner. According to a statement on the post detailing the news above, Mills said, “While I have the drive and passion, commitment and experience, and above all else – the fight – to continue on, I very simply do not have the one thing that political campaigns unfortunately require today: the financial resources.”

According to the same post, Mills had reportedly gone viral last year after refusing to comply with Trump’s executive order to remove transgender women from women’s sports. During the briefing concerning this order, Mills explained, “I’m complying with state and federal laws.”

To that, Trump responded with, “We are the federal law. Well, you better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funding if you don’t. And by the way, even though it is somewhat liberal, even though I did very well there, your population doesn’t want men playing women’s sports. So, you better comply because otherwise you aren’t getting any federal funding.“

Reactions to Governor Janet Mills Dropping Out of U.S. Senate Race

Commenters jumped into the replies to share their opinions on the situation, with many focusing on who would have been her opponent in the primaries: Graham Platner. One person wrote, “And, they’re now nominating Graham Platner, The Nazi salute guy with a Nazi linked tattoo. Talk about CONFESSING what they are.“

Another commenter wrote, “I saw a Maine license plate yesterday with their new state motto on it,” with an image of an AI-generated license plate that said “Main Street Nazism Nazism,” in reference to Platner. One person was a bit more direct, writing,”
