Fans of the NBC show Constantine have been waiting with bated breath as the execs at the network best known for canceling Community were deciding the fate of the young series. Despite a tweet from the showrunner saying that their pitch meeting went well, Constantine has officially gotten the axe along with other shows One Big Happy, About a Boy, and State of Affairs. In reality Constantine was doomed from the start. NBC, a conglomerate usually known for axing its quality shows, shoved the supernatural show into a 10pm Friday night time slot, which is usually a death knell for programs, especially ones in their first season.

Ratings weren’t exactly high for Constantine and NBC may have thought that it wasn’t worth the budget. Constantine is an expensive show to produce as it relies heavily on pricey visual effects. It’s a shame that Constantine didn’t get the benefit of a longer run, because even though the beginning of the season was somewhat lackluster, it seemed to find its footing as the series went on.

All hope is not lost, well not yet, at least. Warner Brothers are currently engaging in talks with other networks to find a home for the cheeky exorcist. Early reports of being in talks with SyFy were completely unfounded and have been proved to be inaccurate, however rumors are swirling about the possibility of FOX picking up the show to go along with its upcoming Frankenstein series and the pilot order of fellow Vertigo comics alum Lucifer. Nothing is set in stone yet, so it’s time for the fans to take to internet and petition for Constantine‘s survival.

Personally, I would like to see the show make it to Netflix. The show would have less restrictions with the dark subject matter and Daredevil has already shown that an adult-themed comic property can do well. It would also be a wise move for DC so they can compete with the Marvel property itself, which seems poised to take over Netflix in the coming years.

Where should Constantine seek asylum? Or should it stay dead? Let us know in the comments below!
