An influencer based in Salt Lake City, Utah, who is refusing to undergo something similar to what occurred during the COVID pandemic, has shared plans to sue every cruise ship passenger exposed to hantavirus who does not quarantine upon returning to the United States.

UPDATE: a form is in my bio! Go there for most recent info!! We are gathering information should we need it. 🖤 I am not a lawyer and this is not signing up for a lawsuit. But I’m going to defend myself this time however I can. Community defends community. @Jake | Travel | Boston ✈️🗺️ hi! Here are the terms of the lawsuit. If you come back to America before the 8 week quarantine and someone is infected by any of you, we’re suing. Hope everyone is okay. But you have a responsibility right now. #hantavirus #hantaviruscruise #hantaviruspassengers #mvhondius #pandemic

The influencer is Teresa Jack. She is best known for her skits, lifestyle content, and vlogs, and has over 900,000 followers. Her recent hantavirus clip, however, quickly became one of her biggest. It garnered 1.8 million views, 404,200 likes, and 11,300 comments.

After saying that “threats work better than requests,” the Utah woman told the passengers on board the MV Hondius, a cruise ship that experienced a hantavirus outbreak, that she and many others would sue them.

“If you get off that boat and you bring that virus back to America knowing that you have been exposed, and you don’t quarantine for the eight weeks wherever you are, I will sue you personally,” Teresa said.

As reported by WKYC, three MV Hondius passengers have died, with multiple others sick. The United States is planning to send a plane to evacuate 17 cruise ship passengers after the vessel reaches the Canary Islands.

Teresa, fearing for an uncontrolled spread of the virus (which is not as transmissible as COVID), told the passengers that she and many others would “go after everything” they had. Referring to the elderly passengers, she added that they would take their houses, their pensions, and even their dogs.

“You’re not doing this to me again. You’re not doing this to my loved ones again. I can’t lose more people. I can’t have more loved ones die from this,” the Utah woman said.

Viewers Willing To Join Lawsuit

The video sparked multiple responses online.

A large number of viewers were willing to support Teresa’s potential lawsuit. One viewer said, “I lost my teenage years to Covid, I’m not losing my 20’s to Hanta.” Another one commented, “If you got sick on an expensive vacation… that’s not my problem, bro.”

Other viewers believed the lawsuit shouldn’t stop at the passengers. One person asked, “We’re also suing the cruise line for letting them leave, right?” Some were not that thrilled about the idea, with one user writing, “You can’t sue someone for that, but nice try.”

According to the Utah woman, after she shared a form, people have pledged $35,000 in three hours for legal fees. Hopefully, the situation will not come to that.
