An ABC reporter says she went on an ‘unexpected trip with President Trump as he unveiled an improvement at the National Mall in Washington DC. However, they had some questions for Trump about where his priorities lie in improving our country.
ABC reporter Rachel Scott (@itsrachelscott) posted her perspective from the trip on her TikTok. She followed President Donald Trump with her team to the National Mall. There, Trump announced that the reflecting pool there will now be getting a new blue flooring, and Rachel took matters into her own hands by asking Trump, “Why focus on all of these projects now amid the backdrop of the war with Iran and as gas prices continue to soar across the country?”
Before Rachel was even done asking her question, Trump answered, “You know why? Because I want to keep our country beautiful and safe.” He goes on to say, “This place was a disgusting place. It was Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial,” mentioning that both places were dirty and “disgusting.” Trump continues to say that the National Mall was not in the best of shape. He explains, “They had to take 11 or 12 truckloads of garbage out of that lake, out of that water. And it sat there for years.” He tells her that we shouldn’t be known for having a “filthy capital.”
But that’s not all Trump has to say. He was clearly offended by Rachel’s question, as he goes on to say, “And such a stupid question you ask. We’re fixing up the reflecting pond to the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and you say, ‘Why are you fixing it up?’” He then berates her further, saying, “This is one of the worst reporters. She’s with ABC Fake News, and she’s a horror show.” Trump finishes his conversation with Rachel by adding, “A question like that is a disgrace to our country.”
Commenters flooded in on Rachel’s post to show support after hearing what President Trump had to say to her. Comments were divided, with some supporting Rachel and others talking about the state of the memorial itself. One commenter said, “I just looked it up and the National Park Service drains and cleans the reflecting pool once a year.” Another added, “That’s verbal abuse.”
One other commenter stated it’s clear that he was riled up by her questioning. They said, “Rachel, an insult from Trump is a sure sign that you are going the right thing, please keep it up.” Commenters continue to share discourse on the controversial video and the way that our President handles communication with reporters in our country.
