For many Americans, the sudden rise in gas and diesel prices is the deal breaker for their support for President Trump. One man from Alabama, however, doesn’t mind and even went viral multiple times for still standing by Trump despite struggling with his shrimping business due to the high cost of diesel.
On May 9, Maynard Dubuisson of Alabama went viral on multiple social media accounts for announcing his undying love for Donald Trump. In a post with thousands of likes and comments, Dubuisson said, “Donald Trump I voted for you and I love you but we are not oil and gas independent. We are having a hard time getting diesel fuel for the shrimp boats in alabama.”
It’s not clear what the exact state of Dubuisson’s shrimping boat business is, but he has implied in this post and many others that he’s struggling. However, Dubuisson appears to know for sure that Trump’s promise that “the price of gas is gonna drop like a rock” is completely false. However, he still followed up this statement with, “I support Donald Trump 100%,” in another viral and earlier post.
The Alabama shrimper’s statements have since sparked off a raging debate in his comment section, with many critics arguing against him and even scratching their heads at the man’s choice to stand with Trump despite supposedly being the direct cause of the oil price hike. The current U.S./Israel-Iran war, for the record, significantly escalated under the Trump administration, and this has led to the oil price increase.
People online are questioning the Trump supporter
Meanwhile, a lot of people seem to want to convince the Alabama shrimper above to retract his support while also mocking his support for Trump. “You’re getting what you voted for so stop whining,” points out one Facebook commenter, with another also having a similar opinion, saying, “I’ll never tell a politician that I love them lmao.”
Others were advising the Alabama shrimper on the futility of his complaints, since he’s been very vocal about them on Facebook. “Oh, he’s absolutely going to read this…. [clown]. You got, got,” jokes one commenter. Another commenter asks, “Why does this read like a child’s letter to Santa?” As expected, many other commenters were confused by Dubuisson’s statements, given how he complains about the consequences of Trump’s policies while still supporting him.
“So, you no longer support him, or……?” questions a Facebook user. For other former Trump supporters, however, it didn’t take long before they grew disillusioned and regretful over their vote. One man from Florida even burned his MAGA hat after Trump depicted himself as Jesus in a now-deleted social media post.
