A woman in Kenilworth, New Jersey, was pulled over by police over a minor traffic violation: an improper lane change. However, things began to escalate, and while she requested a supervisor, police officers threatened her with a K-9 unit.
Footage of the traffic stop was shared on TikTok by Jordan Panno. She is a content creator who posts a variety of content, including lifestyle. However, she often calls out local politicians, most recently for the data centers being built in the area. The clip in question went viral, garnering 261,200 views, 27,800 likes, and more than 300 comments.
The clip starts with an off-camera officer talking to the New Jersey woman, who was behind the wheel. Apparently, at that point during the traffic stop, Jordan had already asked for a supervisor to come over.
“You’re doing a lot more talking than you are listening,” the officer is heard telling Jordan. “So here’s where we’re at. You’re not getting a supervisor until you step out of the vehicle. You will be physically removed.”
CoreWeave Mentioned, K-9 Unit Threatened
Then, the cop mentioned CoreWeave, the company behind the new $1.8 billion data center project in Kenilworth. That is the same project that Jordan has publicly and vocally opposed, even going so far as to imply that the mayor allegedly messaged her privately with information that “completely contradicts the development plan,” as shown in a previous clip.
Eventually, Jordan stepped out of her vehicle on her own. While on the curb, the New Jersey woman called out the police officers. In the comments, she described one officer asking what she had in her vehicle that she “didn’t want him to see.” She asked if they had any suspicion, and she was told they didn’t need to have any, only her consent.
She didn’t give her consent for a police search, and, at one point, one of the cops is heard threatening to bring a K-9 unit.
“If you wanna give me a ticket, that’s completely okay,” the woman said. “That [the alleged search] has nothing to do with the ticket that you were going to be giving me.”
Eventually, it appears that a supervisor did arrive at the scene. She complained to him and said she needed the officer’s badge number and name to file a complaint.
Internet Reacts To Traffic Stop
Some viewers believed that the traffic stop was handled poorly. One said, “Lawsuit. Extended the traffic stop.” Another one wrote, “Complain with the independent review board, NOT the station.”
Others, fully aware of her past complaints about CoreWeave, were suspicious of the incident. One viewer wrote, “Seeing this video after you called out the mayor.” Others pointed out that the police department was under fire online, with one saying, “The police department limited comments on Facebook, too.”
Jordan has not posted an update regarding the traffic stop, although she claims that she has more footage to share.
