A woman who attended a graduation ceremony at Del Valle High School in Texas is facing backlash online after another attendee recorded what appeared to be racist text messages she was sending during the event. The video, which surpassed 2.2 million views on X before it was deleted, showed messages that some netizens interpreted as derogatory toward the Hispanic students graduating and their families.

In the video, the woman first sent a message to someone saved on her phone as Bobby that read, “Nothing but Mexicans at this graduation lmao.” Bobby replied, “Lol It is del valle.” The woman then started filling Bobby in on what was happening at the ceremony. She told him there had only been three White students called to receive their diplomas. She claimed a fight had broken out at one point, which she described as “ghetto” behavior, and said she planned to leave as soon as her niece was called.

The last message in the exchange read, “Scott said I wonder if ICE is here.”

The other attendee who recorded the whole conversation said she later confronted the woman and told her she should be ashamed of herself. She claimed that when she threatened to post the alleged “racist” messages publicly, the woman began screaming at her.

She said she left before things escalated.

Netizens’ Reaction to the Viral Texas Graduation Video

The viral video sparked outrage on X, with many netizens condemning the Texas woman’s actions. One person wrote, “This is actually so sad. I can’t believe it’s 2026 and people are still this racist.” Another commented, “I don’t get what is so hard about celebrating every kid who’s worked hard to graduate.” A third wondered, “How can someone have so much hate in their heart to be doing this in a moment of joy, horrible.”

Some were especially sympathetic to the person who filmed the incident, as she had revealed she was attending her sister’s graduation ceremony. “This is absolutely so disgusting. I’m so sorry this happened,” one comment read. Someone else said, “Congratulations to your sister and everyone else who graduated!!!” A third added, “Sending you and your family a hug.”

Alongside the video, a photo that appeared to show the woman accused of sending the messages was also shared online. However, her identity has not been publicly confirmed as of the time of writing, and it remains unclear whether she has publicly responded to the backlash.
