A Colorado nurse claims she left her new nursing job after only two hours over what she described as a toxic workplace environment. Despite having eleven years of healthcare experience, including work in detox settings, she alleges that her coworkers were rude, standoffish, and toxic to her from the moment she arrived.

The nurse, Leslie, describes how the detox facility felt things off as soon as she walked in: “Immediately the vibes were rancid.” Her TikTok video detailing her alleged experience has over 1 million views, over 175,000 likes, and over 2,000 comments. She claimed coworkers were distant and that she received little guidance during onboarding. The charge nurse then allegedly accused her of being three hours late and took issue with the Colorado woman arriving on a holiday. The nurse showed her the email telling her the hours and the date she was supposed to start. She says, “I should have just run away at that point.”

It only went downhill from there. As the Colorado nurse waited for something to do, she overheard her coworkers gossiping about how they drove the nurse manager to quit. At this point, Leslie describes the environment as being “absolutely toxic.” She then alleges that when she tried to get help for a patient, they ignored her. The nurse explains, “I don’t like when nurses act like patients are inconvenient.” Following this, she reported a patient’s tremors to the provider, who she felt reacted positively to her bedside manner. She describes this as an “immediate red flag.” When she left the room, she overheard her coworkers gossiping behind her back. Finally, she sent an email to the medical director and went home. Leslie explains, “I don’t want to be associated with those types of nurses.” The allegations made in the TikTok videos have not been independently verified.

Several Applaud Colorado Nurse’s Dedication

Several are applauding her for leaving the job and offering advice on how to move forward. One suggests taking the situation to the state, “I guarantee they will be acting differently if state gets involved.” However, it’s the way she advocated for patients that has attracted the most attention. One commenter says, “You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you for caring about patients.” Another agrees, “I’m sorry you have to go through this, but always stand your ground, and what a great way to advocate for your patients.“

Others are horrified by her experience, with one describing it as “high school behavior.” Another says, “Girl, the saxophones kept getting louder by the minute.” One commenter tells her, “You stayed two hours too long.”

The Colorado nurse has posted an update after she received a response from the manager. In the video, she claims she was offered a charge nurse position, that the footage was pulled, and that HR would be getting involved.
