A California man calls out a nationwide seasoning recall announced by Walmart. In the video, he accuses the company of not caring about customers and of allegedly knowing about the contamination risk before selling.
The California man begins the TikTok video by saying, “If you shop at Walmart, you probably have less than a week to live.” By this, he is referring to the recent “recall for a popular food item” that the company has quietly issued. The cause for the recall, according to the FDA, is “concerns of a potentially fatal infection risk,” such as Salmonella. The product is Parmesan Ranch seasoning, which Blackstone manufactures. His video has over 94,000 views and over 5,000 likes.
According to the information available on the FDA website, “Blackstone Products has voluntarily recalled 3 lots sold at Walmart locations across the U.S.” The California man wants those who have purchased and used the seasoning to be aware of potential symptoms. These include nausea, fever, and diarrhea, with some cases more severe than others. The man continues by calling out the company for the contamination, stating, “They don’t care about you.” He elaborates, “They already knew what it was going to be when they released this seasoning.”
California Man Sparks Debate Over Who’s To Blame
His video has raised awareness over the issue and has several comments blasting food at Walmart. One person simply says, “I don’t [expletive] with Walmart food AT ALL.” Another claims that they “don’t even buy water” at the store. For one commenter, they allegedly “brought a bag of chicken wings and fried it and the oil turned green, and the chicken remained white.”
The California man’s video has also sparked an interesting debate over who is responsible for the contamination. While he blames Walmart in his video, others disagree. One says, “It’s the COMPANY of the BRANDS and their factories that are at fault, not the supplier.” Another agrees, “The distributor is not at fault for the supplier being audited by the FDA.” However, some still think the company should take part of the blame. One commenter says, “Walmart is at fault as well because they know what’s in these products as well.”
The video is a good reminder to always check labels and keep up to date with recalls before purchasing food items.
